Explore the squishy, smudgy, sculptable world of clay!
Each Friday, join us for a different drop-in clay experience in the Art Studio. We’ll work with a variety of media–ceramic clay, dough, paper clay, polymer clay, and more. This event is free with general museum admission.
Join MCM for a free celebration 4-8 pm featuring a performance from Beni Daiko, hands-on cultural activities, crafty interactives, special scavenger hunt, refreshments, and more! Snacks and beverages are also available from MCM’s pay-what-you-cafe, the Lunchbox, while supplies last.
Join us for free admission and hands-on activities throughout the museum, 4–8 pm! Learn about dozens of free family events taking place April 19–27 in southern Wisconsin as part of Badgerland Learning Days. Admission is free, registration not required.

Explore new materials and creative techniques through facilitated art activities and bring home hand-made treasures. Projects vary each week and may include sculpture, painting, comics, printmaking, and more! In celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, we’ll create art from re-used or recycled
materials.

Celebrate Children’s Day with us! Join us for a special workshop to celebrate kids. We’ll make mini piñatas, play musical chairs with lively Latin music, and enjoy a puppet show—all in Spanish. It’s a joyful celebration where everyone can learn and play together!

Experiment with renewable energy using our KidWind turbine kit! Build wind turbines, test out their energy output based on fan blade shape, size, number, and angle, and make modifications to create the ideal windmill.

Explore the teeny, teeming ecosystem hiding in our compost bucket! Examine living organisms in compost samples under the microscope, and make-and-take vermaculture compost “tea” to bring home a special nutrient blend for your houseplants.
Join us each week for new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities. These hands-on programs foster creativity, ignite curiosity, encourage divergent thinking, build problem-solving skills, and offer new ways for kids to explore the world around them.

We will provide a space for infants and toddlers (2 years and under) and their caregivers to explore and play together, and engage in activities that support various aspects of child development. Parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to connect with one another over a variety of topics. Come meet other families and make new friends!
This event will be held in the Celebrations Room and is free with general museum admission.
