MADISON, Wis. ––  USAToday/10Best announced that Madison Children’s Museum ranked in the top 10 in the 2020 USA Today/10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest for the Best Children’s Museum. Initial nominations—comprising 20 museums—were made by an expert panel of travel journalists from around the country and then voted upon by the public to determine who would make the top 10. The winners were revealed in an announcement on February 28, 2020.

“We’re focused on providing fun opportunities for creative, open-ended play—the kind that connects kids and their caregivers, whether they are babies in the First-Time Parent Membership program or school-age kids coming to our spring break STEM activities. But it’s great to take a breath, stop, and appreciate that our work is recognized.” said Deb Gilpin, president and CEO of the museum.“As one of the smallest museums and metro areas in the rankings, we are particularly pleased. We beat out some very stiff competition from excellent museums. We’re grateful that our members, visitors, donors, and partners rallied to vote for us.”

The top ten winners are as follows:
1.    The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis
2.    City Museum
3.    The Magic House
4.    Kohl Children’s Museum
5.    Children’s Museum of Houston
6.    Museum of Discovery
7.    Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh
8.    Children’s Museum of Denver
9.    The Strong Museum
10.   Madison Children’s Museum
