Adult Swim: Mad City Music-Makers
Madison Children’s Museum continues its series of popular 21-and-up parties. To answer the most frequently asked question: No, the museum does not have a pool. These parties honor the public-pool tradition of excluding children for a while, so the grown-ups can play. At every Adult Swim, visitors play in the exhibits, work on craft projects, listen to music, and enjoy themed activities – often with a drink or a snack in hand.

Mad City Music-Makers, the theme of this Adult Swim, honors the past, present, and future of Madison music. The event takes place Friday, June 3, 6 to 10 p.m., at the museum, 100 N. Hamilton St. Admission is $12.75 in advance and $15 day-of. Purchase tickets online, or at the desk day-of. This “swim” includes no special add-ons, so, other than food and drink, the price is all-inclusive.
This event features a number of music-related activities:

  • Make guitar pick jewelry and rock & roll shrinky dinks, 6-10 p.m.
  • Participate in the open mic talent round-up, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Learn to play and perform percussion with plastic bags, 7:30 p.m.
  • Accordion autopsy: find out what’s inside this awesome, fearsome machine, 7-7:30 p.m.
  • Sing along with Hoot ‘n Annie on the roof, 8-9:30 p.m.
  • Applaud Madison musical all-stars at the Bandmate Newlywed Game, 8:30-9 p.m.
  • Play your best air guitar in the Air Guitar Contest. The winner will receive a vintage air guitar (a similar guitar was valued at $799!) and two tickets to Adult Swim, 9 p.m.

Rocking craft beer and rolling pizza will be available for purchase from the Roman Candle Pizzeria.
