Worker who overcame obstacles chosen to accept museum’s national honor

Ben Perreth greets visitors to the Madison Children’s Museum with a warmth and sincerity unusual for a 23-year-old man. He also juggles two balls left-handed and entertains children with puppets.
“Welcome to the Wildernest, dudes and dudettes,” Perreth called out one recent weekday, addressing a group of Shabazz High School students touring the museum’s “global village” reserved for its youngest visitors.
