Going Out: Weekend highlights for April 3
Wisconsin State Journal
By Jane Burns
It’s time for the bunnies and the bonnets with the annual Easter Parade on Capitol Square at noon on Saturday.
Prior to the parade Capitol Kids, 8 S. Carroll St., and the Madison Children’s Museum, 100 N. Hamilton St., will host hat-making workshops from 10-11:30 a.m., until it’s time to line up outside Capitol Kids for the parade at 11:45 a.m.
Also on Saturday, the Downtown Middleton Business Association will host its annual Easter egg hunt from 10-11 a.m. at Middleton Fireman’s Park, 7400 Lee St. Kids are asked to bring their own baskets, and families are asked to bring an item to donate to the Restoring Hope Transplant House (including bread, paper towels and toilet paper).
On Sunday, the Edgewater will host a free family-friendly Easter event. There’s a chance to get a photo with the Easter bunny, as well as Easter egg hunts at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. There will also be other kids’ and family activities, as well as brunch options at the hotel’s Statehouse Restaurant (call 535-8230 for a reservation) and Grand Ballroom (535-8200).
DAIS fundraiser
Domestic Abuse Intervention Services of Dane County (DAIS) and the Frequency are hosting an afternoon of music to raise money and items for survivors of domestic abuse.
Whitney Mann, Emily Jane Powers, Hannah Luree and Annabel Lee Music will perform. The event is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Frequency, 121 W. Main St. For more information go to abuseintervention.org.
Play ball
It’s not all basketball all the time this weekend — the Badgers softball team hosts its home opener against Penn State today and Saturday at Goodman Diamond.
The Badgers will play the Nittany Lions at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. today, and at 11 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for youth, UW-Madison students and senior.
