Prepare to sparkle and shine during our next members-only party!

Members take over the museum for a night of wintry fun. (Wearing sparkling clothing is totally optional, but encouraged!) This members-only party will include a special goodbye to our Coops to Cathedral’s exhibit, and a sneak peek of the new exhibit, opening in the summer.

This event is for current museum members only. Registration is $10 per family (after MCM member discount.)

A special goodbye to an old favorite exhibit and getting excited for the new exhibit to come!

This is the members-only time to say goodbye to From Coops to Cathedrals; this second-floor exhibit inspired by the work and local childhood of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, will close on January 3, to be replaced by an exciting new exhibit opening for summer 2024. Play with the Froebel shapes, race a paper ice boat, build a wall with the “stone” blocks, collect the eggs in the chicken coop, and let your kids find their inner architect while it lasts!

Especially for younger kids or those who have a difficult time with change and transitions, this will be a good opportunity to practice change management. We can have fun with the exhibit we knew while anticipating the fun of the new exhibit.

Also, we’ll have a sneak-peek slideshow of some of the plans underway for the new exhibit!

Special Crafts & Activities at the Winter Magic Member Party

• Make a sparkly snowflake ornament in the Art Studio
• Create candle lanterns and decorative magnets, inspired by the From Coops to Cathedral’s exhibit and Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie school design
• Take a memento photo of your family with Slippery the calf, with help from our volunteer photographer (Don’t worry, Slippery isn’t gone for good! Check out or blog post on the transition to learn more about Slippery’s past and future at the museum.)
• Quest on a scavenger hunt throughout the museum to discover the winter “magic” of animals who change their appearance for the winter, with prizes upon completion
