Gallery Night: Free Admission, Live Music, and More!
Friday, May 5 @ 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

We are open until 8 pm this evening as part of Gallery Night, a community-wide celebration of Madison’s vibrant art scene organized by Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.
Gallery Night is open to adults and children of all ages. Enjoy free admission from 4-8 pm, plus the following special activities:
- Live music! Tonight we kick off Live from the Wonderground, a First Friday concert series featuring local bands along with cash bar, food truck treats, and fresh air fun in downtown Madison’s most creative playground. Tonight’s featured band is Atimevu, performing traditional music of Ghana 5:30-7:30 pm. Each Live from the Wonderground event features “A Drop in the Bucket” – unique mini sets performed in the Wonderground’s Giant Bucket. Tonight’s bucket band is soprano Alannah Spencer and pianist Scott Gendel, who will treat us to a few of their favorite opera hits.
- Guided tour for a great cause! Local artists Erika Koivunen and Chris Murphy, whose beautiful work can be found throughout our museum, lost their studio space and most of their tools and works in progress in a massive fire on March 31. This evening, museum staff will lead guided tours at 5 pm and 7 pm, highlighting work by Erika, Chris, and Erika’s late husband Aaron Howard. Tour attendees will be encouraged to donate to their rebuilding campaign.
- Cash bar with grownup beverages and NA options; snacks available from our Lunchbox Cafe.
Free Nights at MCM are part of our Access for Everyone programs. The developmental benefits of play are critical to every child’s growth and the museum’s access programs ensure that all children and families are equipped with critical resources to succeed.
