MMSD School Fun Nights
Schedule a night at MCM—just for your school families!
MMSD School Fun Nights include exclusive use of the museum’s indoor and outdoor exhibit spaces and hands-on activities in the museum’s Art Studio for students and their families.
Any MMSD elementary school can schedule a free School Fun Night at MCM, thanks to our funders.
Qualifying Organizations
This program is currently available only to elementary schools within the Madison Metropolitan School District. Each school may schedule one free School Fun Night per school year, during the 24-25 and 25-26 school years.
School Fun Night Booking Times
Fun Nights must be booked at least 1 month in advance and are subject to availability.
Fun Nights are available on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Standard Fun Night hours are 5–8 pm; there is some flexibility in arrival and departure time. We recommend at least a 2-hour block of time for families to enjoy the museum. See available dates.
MCM is unable to accommodate School Fun Nights during particularly busy seasons, such as MMSD holidays and vacation dates.
Group Size
School Fun Nights are designed to serve large groups of 100–500. Groups of 75 or fewer may reserve visits during our free Thursday evenings, subject to availability. For more information about Thursday evening group visits, contact the group visit registrar at registration@madisonchildrensmuseum.org . If you anticipate attendance over 700 we can work with you to schedule a second date for your school.
Transportation
MCM has limited funds to assist with bus transportation to/from the museum. Please indicate on the reservation request form if you need financial assistance for transportation for your School Fun Night
Food
School groups should bring in whatever food they would like to make available to families during the Fun Night (donated/purchased/catering/potluck). Eating space is available in our Community Concourse and Celebrations room.
Teacher Honorarium
We are able to provide a $100 honorarium to each school’s arts liaison (or another lead teacher if applicable) in support of their coordination time.
Major support is provided by The Evjue Foundation. The project is also supported by Dane Arts with additional funds from the Frautschi and Rowland Foundations, Diane Ballweg, and the Endres Mfg. Company Foundation.
