Week of the Young Child—Family Friday
Family plays a crucial role in children’s social and emotional development. Family relationships are the foundation for all other relationships; they teach children about security and how to experience the world around them. Children thrive when parents and caregivers are able to actively promote their positive growth and development.
Our Vision Statement says, “Madison Children’s Museum strives to be a welcoming, imaginative, joyful learning environment that supports families in nurturing children’s creativity and curiosity. We foster the healthy development of all children so that they will fulfill their potential and become engaged community members and empathetic global citizens.”
We know that supporting the child means supporting the whole family. We’re pleased to host programs like the Family Resource Fair during our most recent Free Family Night, which provided playtime, a meal, and an opportunity to connect with organizations that support families within our Madison community.
If you have a baby or toddler, check out our Early Explorers play group (sessions during the morning and afternoon) where young children interact, and families are able to connect with one another and learn from our expert staff.
This week we’re pleased participate in the Week of the Young Child. Organized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration of early learning, young children, their families, and teachers—and that includes the expert staff at Madison Children’s Museum! They make sure that our exhibits and programs meet the highest standards for educational and developmentally appropriate play and learning.
Follow our blog this week to learn about the key themes that are being highlighted during the 2018 Week of the Young Child, and how you can take advantage of our resources and programs for your early learner.
