First-Time Parent Program—Test-Group Closed, Full Program Launches Mid-August

MCM welcomes a group of our youngest members

It took just four days for us to fill our test group for the First-Time Parent Membership, and we are excited to have so many eager new families with us.  In this group, we welcomed many families from all over southern Wisconsin, including several sets of twins!

With these new members, we hope to learn how they use the museum and the program—and how we can reach more families earlier, while their children are very young. So much important learning and growth happens when children are younger than 18 months old, and we want to provide a space where parents can connect with their children, and take advantage of the resources we have here at the museum. Hopefully, with this early start, we can strengthen the links between families, our educational programming, and our staff.

Registration for this test group is now closed, we will reopen registration when the program officially launches in mid-August.  When this program is reopened, we expect to welcome about 400 more families this year, but there will be no limits on the number of First-Time Parent Memberships available. In the fall, we will resume holding playgroup meetings weekly, offering additional infant-focused programming, and holding First-Time Parent Member orientations during Member Mornings.

During this test period, especially, we are interested in any and all feedback about the program. Please email Membership Coordinator Amanda Strobel with comments, questions, or ideas.

The First-Time Parent Membership is presented by Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin. Additional support is provided by the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation.
