Adult Swim: How to Make Friends in Madison

Friday, February 6 @ 5:30 pm 9:00 pm

New in town? Looking for a group of lovable slackers who will keep you company at the coffee shop? Head down to Madison Children’s Museum and connect with fellow friendship-seekers IRL. Take your search offline while you enjoy friendship-sparking activities guided by our expertly nerdy staff. Team up with new folks to test your trivia skills. Meet new pals over crafts and activities while you sip on specialty cocktails. Start 2026 off with a bunch of new besties!

  • $20 advance
  • $25 day of event
  • Bring the whole friend group and get 10% off your order of 10+ tickets!
  • Premier Trivia, Friendship Edition: Open meetup teams for singles and doubles to join. It’s like forming a perfect heist crew, but with much lower stakes.
  • Nametags: Easiest icebreaker ever invented! Wear one, make friends, profit.
  • Friend-O: Talk to five strangers, fill your card, win a prize. We’ve gamified social interaction and honestly? It works.
  • Downtown Dreaming: Chat with your new besties at the City of Madison Planning Division about your big dreams for our little city, and make a flag button to boot!
  • Friendship Quest: Follow the Friendship Wizard on a challenge quest through the museum to discover that the real treasure was the friends you made along the way.
  • “Thy Friendship Makes Us Fresh”: Madison Shakespeare Company pop-up performance, because The Bard knew a thing or two about bromance.
  • Friendship TED Talks: What’s the point of small talk? How do you break the ice without seeming like a creeper? Local friends Heather and Brontë share their wisdom.
  • Palentine Crafting: Make a valentine for your gal pal, bro friend, or non-binary bestie!
  • Friendship Bracelets: Obviously! Channel your inner camp counselor (or Swiftie) and weave, braid, and knot your way to BFFdom.
  • The Doctor is In: Got burning questions about friendship? Ask a real social scientist!
  • Fun & Games: Connect with people the old-fashioned way: by dropping a Draw Four on them in Uno.
  • Friend Speed Dating: Twenty minute rounds to meet ten new people. Questions provided!
  • Draw Me Like One of Your Best Friends: Give your newest pal the greatest gift of all—a portrait of them drawn by a near-stranger with questionable artistic ability!
  • Duct Tape Roses: Make a yellow rose (for friendship) out of duct tape (for fun).
  • Bond over bowls of authentic Filipino goodness from Kanto Fiesta Filipino Cuisine. Keep the good vibes flowing with exclusive cocktails created by the mixologist at State Line Distillery, brews from Delta Beer Lab, and a selection of the finest sodas and sparkling waters in the land. Cheers to that!

All food & drink are available for purchase onsite!

Adult Swim at Madison Children’s Museum borrows the public pool tradition of kicking out the kids so adults can have the place to themselves (just without actual swimming). Adult Swim makes space to play like a grown-up—crafting, drinking, and friendfinding your way through the museum.
