Gaming Camp

Calling all Kindergartners!

Join us for a special week of play and activities designed for 4–6 year-olds and first time MCM campers. We’ll run like a gerbil, create like an artist, and think like a scientist. Each morning will start with free play time before the museum opens, and will also include a special craft or science activity, such as giant bubbles, additional exploration in the museum’s exhibits, and a group mindfulness activity. Making new friends and playing together will help campers practice important Kindergarten skills like turn-taking and standing in line, and will encourage kindness and confidence.

Learn how to create your own stuffed animal, monster, muppet, or any creature you can think of! In this camp we will learn how to design a basic circuit with LEDs and explore hand sewing and construction techniques to create light-up elements for our new cyborg friends. We will also have fun creating a set of clothes and accessories for our homemade creatures.

Mask Making Camp

Cook delicious meals!

Would you like to become a “mealtime maverick” and learn how to cook delicious meals for you and your family? From breakfast to dessert, each day we’ll make 2 different dishes in order to learn a variety of cooking techniques and perfect our skills. We will learn basic kitchen skills like measuring and how to read and follow a recipe, and more advanced skills like chopping, dicing and sautéing. Some sample recipes might be: strawberry bruschetta, veggie burger sliders, or homemade hummus and pita chips. The last day of camp will include a cake decorating demonstration from Carl’s Cakes and each camper will bring home cupcakes they decorated themselves.

Become a superhero who can create change in the world. In this camp, children will explore what it takes to live more sustainably. We will experiment with the sun, wind, recycling, gardening and urban agriculture as we cook in a solar oven and build our own solar cookers, make inventions with recycled materials, plant and harvest local organic vegetables from the museum’s gardens, build composters, investigate alternative energy, and care for urban chickens.

Design the city of your dreams!

Work to plan, design and construct a neighborhood community. Join educators from Taliesin to explore the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and learn about his principles of organic architecture and the inspiration he took from the natural world around him. Design and build 3D models to build a miniature city.
