Camps at Madison Children’s Museum
Sign up for some serious school-age fun!
Kids have lots of interests, so our spring, summer, and winter camps have lots to offer—from art and fashion to cooking and technology.

Morning camps run 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.; Afternoon camps run 1 – 5 p.m. Campers are asked to bring a lunch to morning camps and a snack to afternoon camps.
Fees and Payment
Standard camp fees are $117 per session for museum members and $130 per session for nonmembers. Higher rates apply to the Day and Night at the Museum overnight camp, and the two-week Musical Theater camp sessions (open individual camp descriptions for fee information).
Scholarships are available through the museum’s Access Membership program.
To apply for a scholarship, download and return the Summer Camp Scholarship Application Form to MCM.
If you are applying for summer camp scholarship(s), register for camps by downloading our 2015 Summer Camp Registration Form (pdf) instead of using online registration. Please email, mail, or drop off the Summer Camp Registration Form along with the Summer Camp Scholarship Application Form to Madison Children’s Museum.
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to complete the MCM forms.
Coming later this spring: registered participants will be emailed full camp itineraries, permission form, general camp information, and optional lunch/snack ordering from our Roman Candle Sparkler Cafe.
March 30 @ 9:30 am - 1:30 pm
In this five-day camp, students will learn how to process raw wool: wash, card, and dye it. They can use their roving to spin yarn for knitting or crochet, or needle felt a project.
Best for ages 8 years and older.
Camp runs March 30-April 3, 9:30am-1:30pm.

Try your hand at pioneer living. Work with traditional tools; communicate and trade with Native American neighbors; attend school in a one-room schoolhouse; grow, cook, and preserve food; and more! Dates: June 15-19, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Ages: completing grades 1-5.

Sketch designs, learn sewing techniques, and choose from recycled fabrics to bring your fashionable vision to life for a grand finale runway show. Dates: June 15-19, 1-5 p.m. Ages: completing grades 1-5.

Great things can come in very small packages! In the Miniature Worlds summer camp, we will be making terrariums, doll houses, dioramas, tiny foods, miniature figures, and more. What miniature world will YOU want to create? Dates: June 22-26, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Ages: Completing grades 1-5.

Explore photography and sketching in the great outdoors! Create sun prints, hand-tinted photos, and film and digital prints. Includes field trips and gallery tours. Dates: June 22-26, 1-5 p.m. Ages: completing grades 1-5.

Do you want to learn more about what you can do to help protect the earth? Campers will explore topics related to preserving the natural environment such as sustainability, biodiversity, urban ecology and biomimicry. We will do many hands-on activities and explorations with live plants and animals that live on the four-season green roof of the museum. Dates: June 29-July 3, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Ages: completing grades 1-5.

Join us as we explore all aspects of cooking delicious meals. We will learn basic kitchen skills like chopping, dicing, measuring, and how to read and follow a recipe. We will harvest our own herbs, collect fresh eggs, and cook using the power of the sun. Each day we will practice our skills by preparing and sharing an afternoon snack. We will also have the opportunity to visit the local farmers’ market, and get a behind-the-scenes tour of a grocery store. Parents will be invited to share in a scrumptious tasting prepared by their children on the last day of camp. Camp dates: June 29-July 3, 1-5 p.m. Ages: best suited for children completing grades 1-3 .

Join us at for a 3D Printing Party camp in offered in collaboration with UW-Madison’s Wisconsin Institutes of Discovery. Explore 3D printing while working with the latest technology to design and print a one of a kind 3D model of your creation. Dates: July 6-10, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Ages: completing grades 3-5.

Join us for an exciting week of mastering kitchen skills like dicing and sautéing, exploring unique flavor combinations, and creating delicious recipes. Each day we will prepare and share an afternoon snack, and engage in fun team challenges, such as a Salsa Showdown or a Flavor Faceoff, to practice what we’ve learned. We will also have the opportunity to harvest herbs and vegetables from the Rooftop garden, and get a behind-the-scenes tour of a grocery store. Parents are invited to share in a delectable tasting prepared by their children on the last day of camp. Camp dates: July 6-10, 1-5 pm. Ages: best suited for children completing grades 3-5.

Earn your super-sleuth spy badge as you learn science techniques to help crack a case. Campers will create their own spy kits and use them to hone their communication, observation and critical thinking skills through top-secret games and field trips to nearby locations.
Dates: July 13-17, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Ages: completing grades 3-5.

Who hasn’t dreamed of spending the night at a museum after the doors have been locked? You don’t have to dream anymore. Spend the week learning the secrets of behind-the-scenes operations at Madison Children’s Museum. Then spend a magical night at the museum on Thursday and see what really happens when the visitors go home. Dates: July 13-16, 1-5 p.m., with overnight sleepover on Thursday ending at 9 a.m. Friday. Ages: completing grades 1-5.

Join us for a special two-week camp session led by instructors from MadCAP (Madison Creative Arts Program). We will produce a musical theater show with live performances on Friday afternoon, July 31. The morning camp session will include casting and rehearsals, including, character development, script-learning, music and movement, and blocking. More details about the production to come! Dates: July 20-24 and July 27-31, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., plus performances on the afternoon of July 31. Ages: completing grades 1-6.

Join us for a special two-week camp session led by instructors from MadCAP (Madison Creative Arts Program). We will produce a musical theater show with live performances on Friday afternoon, July 31. The afternoon camp session will include set design and fabrication, prop construction, costume-making, stage makeup techniques, and more. More details about the production to come! Dates: July 20-24 and July 27-31, 1-5 p.m. with performances on the afternoon of July 31. Ages: completing grades 1-6.

Become an R&D innovator! Learn about the tools of the trade that are used in the research and development of the new and improved products that we use every day, then design and make a prototype of your very own creation. Dates: August 3-7, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Ages: completing grades 3-5.

Step into our LEGO Lab to create your own sculptures and experiment with different motors, sensors, and various doodads to design and build your own robotic contraption. Dates: August 3-7, 1-5 p.m. Ages: Completing grades 3-5.
