Camps

Kids have lots of interests, so our spring, summer, and winter camps have lots to offer—from art and fashion to cooking and technology. They’re serious school-age fun!

Build a Show! (Build Your Own Opera Camp)

June 16 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Music, theatre and art come together as teaching and performing artists from MCM and Opera for the Young help children BUILD-A-SHOW!  Campers will work as a group to create an original story set to the delightful music of Gilbert and Sullivan. Kids will invent scenery, costumes, props and make-up and perform their one-of-a-kind creation for family and friends.

Two-week camp; Monday-Friday, June 16–27, 9 am–1 pm. Ages: completing grades 3–6.

Mega-Puppet Parade Camp

June 16 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Learn to construct large scale paper mache puppets and create animal puppets for Madison’s Procession of the Species Parade. June 16–20, 1–5 p.m. Ages: completing grades 1–5.

LEGO Lab Camp (Session 1)

June 23 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Experiment with motors, sensors, and doodads to build your own robotic LEGO contraption. Session one: June 23–27, 1–5 p.m. Ages: completing grades 3–5.

3D Printing Party Camp

June 30 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Explore 3D printing, design & rapid prototyping. Co-taught by MCM and Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery. June 30—July 3, 9 am–1 pm. Ages: completing grades 4–5.

LEGO Lab Camp (Session 2): SOLD OUT

June 30 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Experiment with motors, sensors, and doodads to build your own robotic LEGO contraption. Session two: June 30–July 3, 1–5 p.m. Ages: completing grades 3–5. This is a repeat of Session one, modified for the four-day camp week.

Stop Motion Animation Camp

July 7 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Story telling and technology come together as kids write and produce their own stop motion animation films. July 7–11, 9 am–1 pm. Ages: completing grades 3–5.

Your mission: use found materials, recycled goods and creative engineering to design and build your very own city.  July 7–11, 1–5 pm. Ages: completing grades 1–5.

All About Animals Camp

Go behind the scenes to get to know MCM’s resident animals and other members of the animal kingdom.  July 14–18, 9 am–1 pm. Ages: completing grades 1–5.

Action Squad Camp

July 14 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Get active with games from obstacle courses to water balloon bouts and fuel your fun with kid-made culinary creations.  July 14–18, 1–5 pm. Ages: completing grades 1–5.

Local Treasure Hunters Camp: SOLD OUT

Learn letterboxing and geocaching; solve riddles, read maps, and use GPS devices to find treasures hidden in Madison.  July 21–25, 9 am–1 pm. Ages: completing grades 1–5.

Young Chefs Camp: SOLD OUT

Harvest herbs, collect fresh chicken eggs, combine delicious flavors, and learn to cook a meal with the power of the sun. Dates: July 21-25, 1-5 p.m. Ages: completing grades 1-5.

Superhero Summer Camp

July 28 @ 1:00 am - 5:00 pm

Invent your own superhero and celebrate superhero culture through cartooning, costume design, and more. June 28-August 1, 1-5 p.m. Ages: completing grades 3-5.

Project FUNway Camp

July 28 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Sketch designs, learn sewing techniques, and choose from recycled fabrics to bring your fashionable vision to life for a grand finale runway show. July 28-August 1. Ages: completing grades 3-5.

Nature Photography Camp

August 4 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Explore photography and sketching in the great outdoors! Create sun prints, hand-tinted photos, and film and digital prints. Includes field trips and gallery tours. Dates: August 4-8, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Ages: completing grades 1-5.
