Rooftop Ramble
Explore the great outdoors in the heart of downtown Madison.
See how the seasons affect the pond and green space. Meet the famous rooftop chickens and free-flying homing pigeons. Scale the Acorn Climber. Get a bird’s eye view of the city from the Crow’s Nest. Look into Wisconsin’s past at the Capital point.
Visit the clubhouse to see what’s growing in our greenhouse or dig for fossils in our sand table. Take time to check out Wisconsin reptiles and fish or attend one of our many drop-in programs (see the calendar for the full schedule).
Watch Exploration Stations with Cheryl
Cheryl, our Environmental Education Manager who is responsible for both tending and educational programs on the rooftop, brought her popular Exploration Stations in-museum programs to MCM at Home while we were closed during the pandemic. Each Exploration Station video explores a different topic in STEM and nature with information and activities to engage young children’s minds, bodies, and hearts.
Thank you to our Rooftop Ramble supporters
A gift from Pleasant T. Rowland helped create this four-season garden.
Rooftop Ramble activities are supported by Francesca Long & Marshall Shortledge.
