  1. Difficult Conversations Workshop I: Talking About Race

Comments Off on Difficult Conversations Workshop I: Talking About Race

Many people find certain topics in today’s world difficult to talk about with children. What is surprising to many is how even early learners will pick up on news and events around them and begin asking questions that might not be easy to answer. This tw0-part workshop series, put on through a collaboration between Madison Children’s Museum and Preschool of the Arts, offers parents and caregivers an opportunity to learn tips and tricks for speaking with young children about difficult subjects.

The first workshop will be focused on the topic of race. The evening will begin with a talk by Erin Winkler of UW-Milwaukee’s Department of Africology after which, participants will break into small groups and work with facilitators for more direct learning.

The second workshop will held on May 5. Please see that program description for more details. These workshops are free but advance registration is required as there are limited spaces available. Childcare will be provided but children will also need to be pre-registered.
