Every kit will contain four different craft projects designed by the education experts at Madison Children’s Museum, with holiday gift-giving in mind.

The Projects:

Dyed Silk Scarf: Create a vividly colored scarf for dress-up or gifting. This project features a less-mess dyeing technique using colored tissue paper and vinegar.

Provided in the kit: silk scarf, special colored tissue pieces, mini spray bottle

Additional supplies required: white vinegar for dye process; iron to heat-set the finished scarf.

Best for ages 3 to teens, with adult assistance for younger children.


Paperwhite Planter: 
Decorate a terracotta pot then plant it with a paperwhite bulb and watch as your flower grows and blooms in winter.

Provided in the kit: planter, paint pens, soil, paperwhite bulb.

Winter 
House: Construct a colorful house in a winter wonderland scene that looks good enough to eat (but won’t crumble or attract critters).

Provided in the kit: Die-cut house pattern, decorative materials

Additional supplies required: scissors & glue. This project can utilize other craft supplies you may have at home as well.

Best for ages 5 to teens, with adult assistance for younger children.


String Art: 
Design and detail a design to make rustic-yet-modern wall decor while you practice using a hammer and nails.

Provided in the kit: wooden plaque, nails, safety nail holder, colored string, design patterns.

Additional supplies required: hammer

Instructional YouTube videos created by our staff will be provided for all four projects.
