Halloween is all about confronting what scares us, in a safe way—and it’s also just fun! Join the museum for 13 days of Halloween-themed crafts, programs, and special events.

Halloween Fun Every Day:

  • Halloween themes during our regularly scheduled programs and activities. See our web-calendar for the daily schedule.
  • Themed crafts in the art studio daily.
  • Costumes are encouraged! Because many kids can’t just get enough of their Halloween costumes!

Special Events:

  • Beakers & Broomsticks, Saturday, October 19, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. A theme day focusing on the science aspects of Halloween. All activities are free with museum admission.
  • Downtown Madison Family Halloween, Wednesday, October 23, 3–6 p.m. The museum stays open late and joins in the fun as downtown businesses open their doors to trick-or-treaters. We’ll be giving out non-food (teal pumpkin safe*) treats to trick-or-treaters. Free admission to the community concourse.
  • Glow Zone, Tuesday–Friday, October 22–25
  • Friday Boo-Nanza, Friday, October 25, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. No school today for Madison and Verona districts! Make it a ghoul day instead, with special activities for school-age kids.
  • Member Monster Mash, Friday, October 25, 6–8 p.m.  A costume party just for museum members (tickets required).
  • Ken Lonnquist Halloween Concert, Saturday, Oct. 26, 11-11:30 a.m. A Halloween concert by one of our favorite children’s performers.
  • Baby’s First Halloween, Thursday, October 31, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Halloween-themed fun just for little ones 0-3 years old, including a family photo booth. Free with museum admission.
All activities will have kid-friendly levels of spooky.
