DESCRIPTION:for kids starting kindergarten in the fall\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSession A (August 5-8) is full.  \n\n\n\nThis four-day program runs Monday–Thursday\, 9–11 am.  \n\n\n\nCamp Kindergarten is designed to playfully foster social and behavioral skills useful for school readiness in children starting kindergarten in the fall. \n\n\n\nThey’ll run like a gerbil\, create like an artist\, and think like a scientist. Each morning will start with free play time before the museum opens. Then they’ll do a craft or science activity and further explore the museum’s exhibits. Making new friends and playing together will help campers practice important kindergarten skills like turn-taking and standing in line\, and will encourage kindness and confidence.  \n\n\n\nCampers may pack a snack. All activities will take place on site at MCM. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for Session AAug. 5–8

SUMMARY:Scratch Programming Class
DESCRIPTION:Spring 2024 Session\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExercise your creativity and have fun learning computer programming! \n\n\n\nClass participants will learn computer programming fundamentals while making their own interactive art\, animated stories\, or games using Scratch\, a programming language specially designed for teaching. For kids aged 9–13 interested in problem-solving/figuring out how to do stuff—no prior programming experience necessary.  \n\n\n\nParents may accompany their child to the class or stay in the building to visit exhibits with a younger sibling. Learn more about Scratch.  \n\n\n\nThis class is taught by UW Service Learning students from the Computer Sciences department. \n\n\n\nFee: $80 for the 10-session class; MCM members receive 10% off. Fee includes museum admission for the participant child\, plus a parent or guardian\, and up to one younger non-participant sibling. \n\n\n\nSupplies: Children must supply their own laptop\, chromebook\, or tablet to work on. (A phone is too small.) \n\n\n\nClass dates: Sundays\, February 11–April 28\, 2:30-3:30 pm.
