Join us as we explores cultures around the world through history and their foods. This month we’re sampling food from Myanmar*.

This program is primarily a demonstration, but visitors are welcome to help out-especially with the eating! We are learning about other cultures through their foods, as well as, exploring math skills, comprehension, social skills, science in action and cooking skills.

*The country of Myanmar is also known as Burma, and the use of this name is a complicated issue, explored in many articles, including this one in The Economist. The land and the peoples who live there have endured considerable difficulty and conflict, and continue to do so. By sampling their food, we hope that kids and adults will connect with other cultures as belonging to people not unlike themselves, and not just a shape on a map, or a name in a news story.
