Important update about the Governor-Elect’s Inaugural Madison Kids’ Gala on Saturday, January 5

Due to higher-than-expected advance ticket sales, walk-up admission to the museum will not be available before 12:15 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, January 5th.

Only advance ticket holders for the Madison Kids Gala will be able to enter the museum between 9:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Regular museum admission will resume after the event when we have enough capacity in the museum to permit entry.

We apologize for this change of plans. Our priority is to make sure that everyone who visits the museum has a safe, fun experience, including access to all of our exhibits and programs. Ensuring that we do not exceed capacity during events helps us guarantee a better experience for all of our visitors.

We look forward to reopening the museum for walk-up, general admissions on Saturday afternoon, around 12:15 p.m. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

On the weekend before the Wisconsin Inauguration, special events for kids will be held in Madison, Milwaukee, and Appleton. Madison Children’s Museum is pleased to have been chosen as the location for Governor-elect Evers’ Madison Kids Gala.

The gala will be a fun and casual event with activities, music, snacks, and a short address by the governor-elect. Admission will begin at 9:30 a.m., with special activities running from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This event is organized by the 2019 Wisconsin Gubernatorial Inauguration. Tickets are now being sold on their website: $5 for kids and adults, or $15 for a family of four, free for kids 2 and under. Proceeds from all 2019 Wisconsin Inauguration events benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee.

Admission includes access to the whole museum and to the special activities, while supplies last. The governor-elect will be speaking briefly in our Coops to Cathedrals exhibit, which will offer limited, on-floor seating. Please note that not every attendee may be able to hear the Governor-elect or others speak as our space does not allow for several hundred children and families to all be in the same room. The activities and regular museum exhibits will be open to all attendees.
