Folklife Festival Day


Join us for a day of traditional crafts, music, food, and art!

Celebrate cultures from around the world (and around your neighborhood), through art-making, foodways, folklore, music, and dance.

Activities include:

Homestyle Foods in the Rooftop Ramble

  • Salsa Making, 10:30 a.m.–noon
  • Ice Cream Making, 12:30–1:30 p.m.
  • Butter Churning, 1:30–2:30 p.m.

Folk Craft Try-It Stations in the Art Studio (2nd floor)

  • Basket Weaving, all day
  • Hmong Pattern Design, all day
  • Paper Cutting, all day
  • Quilting, 11 a.m.–noon
  • Knitting, 1–2 p.m.
  • Beading, 2–3 p.m.

Live Music & Dance in the Celebrations Room (2nd floor)

  • BENI Daiko (Japanese taiko drumming), 10–10:30 a.m.
  • Atimevu Drum and Dance Group (Ghanaian folk music and dance), 11–11:30 a.m.
  • Yid Vicious klezmer band (Yiddish folk music), 1–1:30 p.m.
  • Tit for Tat (Irish folk music), 2–2:30 p.m.

Folklife Festival Day and all other Madison Children’s Museum days are FREE for members or FREE with museum general admission. All activities are included with the price of admission, while supplies last. No pre-registration is needed. 

You may buy general admission tickets at the front desk, or save time and order them online. Tickets are good for visitation on any day the museum is open to the public and never expire.
