Difficult Conversations Workshop II: Talking about Gender
May 5, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Many people find certain topics in today’s world difficult to talk about with children. What is surprising to many is how even early learners will pick up on stories and topics around them and begin asking questions that might not be easy to answer. This tw0-part workshop series, put on through a collaboration between Madison Children’s Museum and Preschool of the Arts, offers parents and caregivers an opportunity to learn tips and tricks for speaking with young children about difficult subjects.
The second workshop will be focused on the topic of gender. The evening will begin with a panel discussion with local experts after which, participants will break into small groups and work with panelists and facilitators for more direct learning.
Panel members include:
– Levi, of queerdadsblog.com
– Petrovnia McIntosh, LCSW, Child and Family Psychotherapist
– Liz Blair, teacher of pre-service and current teachers about supporting gender, racial, ethnic and social class diversity in schools
These workshops are free but advance registration is required as there are limited spaces available. Childcare will be provided but children will also need to be pre-registered.
