Members swarm the museum for an un-bee-lievable party!

Museum members, join us for a special springtime party celebrating everything having to do with bees! Bees are important partners in our gardens and farms and they’re also super fun. Admission includes a whole hive of bee-themed activities designed to inspire the scientist or gardener in every kid, and the evening will finish with a waggle-dance party!

• Storybook reading of Bee Dance by Rick Chrustowski – multiple readings so every little larva has a chance to see the pictures
• Collaborative Art – Just like how bees work together to create their hive, we’ll work together to create a new piece of art to be displayed in our newly renovated rooftop, when it reopens in a week.
• Wildflower Seed Bombs – support native pollinators by starting guerrilla gardens with DIY seed bombs
• Pollinator Challenge Scavenger Hunt –  sustain your hive by finding “pollen” all over the museum
• Honey Snacks – bees, bears, and kids — everyone loves honey! Choose your favorite snack and dip or drizzle honey for a yummy treat. (We’ll have another sweet alternative for babies under 1.)
• Flower Power in the Art Studio – Craft a flower pretty enough to fool any bee and other bee-themed crafts
• Bee Ball Dance Party – We’ll finish the evening with a dance party featuring the music of the Queen B herself: Bee-yonce

We are now charging a small fee for member-only events.  Proceeds from events will offset a portion of the cost of putting them on and help to make the events available to more members by reducing the recent trend of one-day (or less) sellouts, long waiting lists, and high no-show rates.
